Participants must reside within the Hanover School Division catchment area.
Headway began in January of 2016.
It was started by agencies that work with high-risk youth and their families in the Steinbach area.
They realized we needed to work together and be on the same page to more effectively provide wrap around supports to our youth and their families.
Steinbach and surrounding communities have access to nearly 150 local resources. Please call us for resource suggestions - we would be happy to help connect you to supports and services.
Last year, 100% of clients involved in the HEADWAY program accessed new services with the assistance of their support team.
In each meeting with a client, whether a consultation, one-on-one, or a team meeting, the need for resources is assessed and determined, with connection support provided.
In addressing the challenges our clients encounter through enlisting community resources, we are breaking down barriers, increasing the opportunities for success, and showing our clients that reaching out for assistance is a strength, not a weakness.
We support youth (who are the largest consumers of policing, CFS, and probation services) who are struggling and their families, engaging agencies to create support teams around them.
The key to Headway is that we involve the youth and their family as part of the support team so they can openly identify, share about, and address issues and struggles.
Understanding the reason behind the behaviour is necessary for creating a successful plan that provides supports for youth and increases their opportunities to succeed, while decreasing the strain on justice agencies and other social services.
The goal of Headway is to ensure that youth are moving forward in becoming active, resilient and productive members of their communities, no longer engaged in activities that are harmful to their physical, mental, spiritual or emotional health and well-being or to their community.
Participants must reside within the Hanover School Division catchment area.
Re-START joined Headway in the spring of 2019.
This program, initiated by the Department of Justice, is offered in several communities across Manitoba.

Steinbach and surrounding communities have access to nearly 150 local resources. Please call us for resource suggestions, we would be happy to help you.
Re-START is dedicated to helping Justice-involved adults. Engaging multiple agencies to create hand-picked support teams and provide relevant resources, we help clients identify their goals and make plans to achieve them, while addressing barriers.
To assist our clients to reduce their involvement in the justice system by supporting positive behaviours, addressing barriers, and supporting success through creating and achieving meaningful goals.

“Thanks for all the help. I can honestly say that I don’t think me and my dad would have been able to have made it this far without your help. Thanks for being such an understanding and knowledgeable individual, it really helps. Know that I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. It’s amazing.”
