F.Y.R.S.T. Program - Gimli

Participants must reside in the Evergreen School Division catchment areas, including Gimli, Arborg, Riverton, and Winnipeg Beach.


The F.Y.R.S.T. Program began in February 2014, modeled after the successful START Program based out of Selkirk. 


Start Model Programs are now in multiple regions within the Province of Manitoba. 


Eligibility for the F.Y.R.S.T. Program includes having multiple agencies/service providers involved in the youth’s circle of support and participants must be between the ages of 12-17 years old.

F.Y.R.S.T. for Youth - gIMLI

Referrals

If you are interested in referring an individual, we would require:

  • A completed F.Y.R.S.T. Application form and 
  • A signed parental consent to exchange information with collaterals.


The referral would be taken to the Screening Committee and eligibility would be determined. 


If deemed eligible, the program coordinator would:

  • Reach out and schedule our first meeting with the provided collaterals involved in the youth’s circle of support.
  • As a team we would plan to meet once a month to determine goals and share information regarding the youth participant in order to better meet their needs

Program objectives guide the daily workings of the program and include:

  • Developing and fostering positive relationships with partner agencies
  • Identifying and addressing risk factors and challenges
  • Convening team members and secure supports for the youth
  • Providing intensive and supportive case management
  • Empowering youth and their families to make positive changes
  • Developing safety and action plans to protect the youth

Program goals are long-term objectives and are concerned with changing community attitudes and behaviours, and include:

  • Utilizing a holistic approach to support youth with complex needs
  • Reducing recidivism
  • Empowering youth and their families to engage in pro-social activities
  • Enhancing coordination and collaboration between social service agencies
  • Enabling access to social service agencies that would not otherwise be used
  • Improving relationships between youth and social service agencies

Re-START for Adults - Gimli

Participants must live within the Evergreen School Division catchment areas (Winnipeg Beach, Gimli, Arborg and Riverton).


Re-START began serving adults involved in the justice system on April 1, 2019. 

The program, initiated by the Department of Justice, is offered in several communities across Manitoba.


To be eligible for the Re-START Program, clients must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have justice system involvement (police, probation, court,  in custody)
  • Reside in the catchment area(s) of the program

Re-START for Adults

If you are interested in referring an individual, we would require a completed Re-START application form.

  • Eligibility would be determined and a meeting with the referred individual would occur to gather more information and complete paperwork.


  • We would then schedule our first meeting with the provided collaterals involved in the participants identified circle of support.


  • As a team we would plan to meet once a month to determine goals and share information regarding the adult participant in order to better meet their needs. 


  • Additionally one-on-one meetings would also occur between the participant and the program coordinator to discuss ongoing progress.
